StarLab Planetarium
What is the StarLab Planetarium?
The STARLAB system is a portable teaching environment that can be brought right into the classroom. It consists of an inflatable dome, a projector, projection cylinders, and optional accessories. Easy to store and transport, the system packs down into traveling cases and a duffel bag. In fact, the STARLAB system is so compact that it can be handled by one person and transported in the back of most small cars. Once unpacked, STARLAB can be set up in under ten minutes.

How big is it?
Our StarLab is a 16' diameter, 10.5' tall dome. It requires approximately 21 sq. ft. of floor space when set up. It will seat anywhere from 20-30 students (depending on their age/size).
Who can use the StarLab?
Lapeer County Math/Science Center has purchased this planetarium to be used by teachers in Lapeer County to support instruction aligned to Space Science in the Michigan Curriculum Framework (SCI.V.4)
Our goal is to have a trained facilitator in each building in our county. This facilitator can borrow the equipment and facilitate its use at their school at no cost.
In the future, the Math/Science Center might also be able to offer a facilitator to accompany the StarLab for an additional fee. Currently, this isn't an option.
Who are the trained facilitators?
Teachers from around Lapeer County were invited to attend a full day of training on using the equipment and the curriculum materials. Anyone interested in using the equipment can receive training on it's operation from one of these trained teachers (when the StarLab is at your building) or from Adair.
