Problem-Based Learning

PBL philosophy:
The question is the answer

"Research should not be about
finding answers, but making
answers.  This requires synthesis and construction of new knowledge"

                            Jamie McKenzie

What is Problem-Based Learning?

PBL is a curriculum and delivery approach designed to place students in the active role of problem solvers confronted with driving questions, problems or issues that mirror real world situations.

Students grapple with real world problems that are "messy" and ill-structured.  In the process of struggling with real problems, students learn both content and critical thinking skills
