Each Lapeer County school is being allowed space on the LapeerDepot server to display their web pages. Currently, there are no restrictions on the amount of space a school may occupy, however, space limits may be imposed in the future if this becomes a problem. Each school will be assigned a sub-directory on the server. The exact path will be "/EDUCATION/SCHOOLS/Individual School Folder". Individual Schools are responsible for the organization and contents of their Individual School Folder (ISF). The ISF can contain any number of sub-folders subject to the length of the path allowed by web URL's. It is highly recommended that the school webmaster give careful thought to the design, layout, and format of their ISF. This page is not a tutorial on writing HTML code, only a guide to be used by Lapeer County school webmasters.
The best way to send files to the server is by ftp. Most web editors have an ftp interface that can be used. An account will be needed. Contact me by e-mail to obtain an account. Please check all links to images and pages before uploading files. Old files no longer being used should be removed from the server to conserve space.
Table 1 is the current layout of the main folder, entitled "Chem", for the Science Teacher's Resource Center. Note that it has several sub-folders, one of which is an "Images" folder. Table 2 shows the contents of the "Chem2Docs" folder. Note that it has only one sub-folder, an images folder, which contains images which are unique to the HTML documents in the "Chem2Docs" folder.

LapeerDepot is currently running WebStar (v4.3) by Starnine Technologies on a 400 mHz G3 Macintosh. Webstar is a powerful web server and supports most of the features found on other servers: cgi's, acgi's, image maps, Server Side Include (SSI) commands, javascript, applets, movies, etc. At the current time it does not support Frontpage extensions and may never support them due to the security problems that seem to be associated with Frontpage extensions.
